Platja de Muro is a relatively new resort located on the coast of the beautiful bay of Alcúdia in the north of the island of Majorca. This town of about 500 inhabitants permanent residents, is part of the municipality of Muro in Pla de Mallorca.
It has many great family hotels established including the dunes, which closes the lagoon of S’Albufera. At the foot of the dunes, vast beaches stretch along the bay.
The Beaches of Muro (Platges de Muro / Playas de Muro)
The beaches of Playa de Muro cover 5.5 kilometers of coastline, but are narrow, about 25 m on average, and low slope. The waters are clear and shallow, and minor waves. This long stretch of sand is divided into four ranges:
the beach of Ses Fotges (Coots) or Sector I, is located to the west, between Platja d’Alcudia and the mouth of the Grand Canal S’Albufera (S’Oberta), the beach is well equipped, supervised and lined with hotels, holiday apartments, restaurants and cafes.
the beach of Platja Braç (range of arm) or Area II, is located east of the mouth (S’Oberta) and extends eastward for 1.7 km. The beach Sector II is less central and less crowded than the area I, but it is also well equipped.
the beach of Es Comú de Muro (Muro commune) lies at the foot of a pine covered with Aleppo pines and junipers, which is a more natural and less equipped than other beach. It has a length of 1, 5 km, can only be accessed from both ends: from the west by the Carrer Arenes, after the beach Es Braç, from the east, by the beach of Casetes des Capellans. The beach is part of the protected area S’Albufera Natural Park.
the beach Casetes des Capellans (Playhouses Chaplains) or Platja Blava (Blue Beach), lies at the eastern end of Playa de Muro, 1 km from Can Picafort, the beach Es Capellans, 400 m length, is well equipped and monitored.
Since the pier, located between the Area I and Area II, boats offer trips in the Bay of Alcúdia.
The Albufera Natural Park de Mallorca
At the rear Muro beaches lies the lagoon S’Albufera, which is a wetland protected by a natural park. The park consists of four circuits discovery avifauna of the lagoon.
This hotel Framissima FRAM presented as being in Alcúdia, is actually located in Playa de Muro in the municipality of Muro.
Address: Carrer de Pobla Creuer 14, Playa de Muro 07408 Alcúdia (place No. 9 on the map)
Phone: 00 34 971 89 September 09
The hotel is close to the Albufera Natural Park is rich bird life, but it is also close to the thermal power plant fuel Es Murterar ofMuro, which smells like rotten eggs (sulfur hydrogen present in the oil), which surrounds the hotel when the wind blows from the southwest.
From time to time, mosquito lagoon disturb sleep.
The hotel is very noisy and poorly soundproofed: we clearly hear conversations in adjacent rooms and hallway, and the rumble of heavy chairs dragged on tiled floors.
Meals are a suitable quantity and quality, but the staff tends to be casual, even insolent, doubtless thinking FRAM more or less captive audience.
